What is Wild Olive Oil?

Wild olive oil is derived from naturally occurring wild olive trees and is characterized by a unique flavor profile and potential health benefits, including higher levels of antioxidants and tocopherols compared to cultivated olive oil.

Source

Wild olive oil comes from olives harvested from wild, naturally germinated trees, often found on the outskirts of farms or in uncultivated areas.

Flavor

It has a more intense, spicier, and "wild" flavor compared to olive oil from cultivated varieties.

Nutritional Facts & Potential Health Benefits

Wild olive oil is rich in antioxidants and polyphenols, and preliminary studies suggest it may have higher levels of tocopherols (vitamin E) and sterols than extra virgin olive oil (EVOO).  Some research indicates that wild olive oil may have beneficial effects on blood pressure and retinal health.

Production

Due to the smaller size and lower yield of wild olives compared to cultivated varieties, the production of wild olive oil is less common and often more labor-intensive.
